Welcome to Blogarate's Blog.
Blogarate, a blog rating widget, rating the world.

Sharing your ratings to your Facebook profile

Published by Jay | Filed under Features, News

Facebook has taken the world by storm and a lot of our users spend time on that catching up with their friends.  We wanted to provide them with the ability to inform their facebook friends what they were rating in the blogosphere via Blogarate.

Thus we created the Blogarate application on Facebook.

Here’s a small screenshot of it in action

We think the installation is very easy. After you log in to Facebook, you can add the Blogarate application via  this link.

Just click the “Add Blogarate” button:

then click the “Add a Blogarate Feed”, add your Blogarate Username:

After that, when you rate a blog post by Blogarate, your friends on Facebook will get the notification and share your recommendation. You can also add ratings from other users in Blogarate who you would like to follow.

We look forward to your feedback

Blogarate supports OpenID so you can simplify your online experience

Published by Jay | Filed under News

blogarate

When you signup or login to Blogarate,  you might have noticed a little orange icon next to the corresponding text as shown in the graphic above.

Clicking on it leads you to another tab allowing you to signup or login into Blogarate via OpenID.

What is OpenID ?

According to OpenID Wikipedia entry

OpenID is a shared identity service, which allows Internet users to log on to many different web sites using a single digital identity, eliminating the need for a different user name and password for each site. OpenID is a decentralized, free and open standard that lets users control the amount of personal information they provide.

Our rationale for providing integration was to eliminate the hesitation for anybody to signup for the Blogarate service whether they be a blogger wanting to use our widget or just a regular reader who wants to rate blog posts after logging in. Users always fear signing up for new services because its another username/password they have to remember. With OpenID, we eliminate that and hope that signing up to Blogarate is an “impulse buy”.

OpenID is getting enormous traction and as of July 2007, there are over 120 million OpenIDs on the Internet (see below) and approximately 4,500 sites have integrated OpenID consumer support. It’s very easy to get an OpenID.

For users who have their own OpenID account, signing up just takes 2 clicks now. It ain’t getting easier than that.

Existing users who want to unify their login information via their OpenID account can easily add it to their existing profile page and rely on Blogarate being a OpenID relying party.
